Focus ST

Ford will launch a hardcore version of the all-new Focus at the Paris Motor Show. The Focus ST has 247bhp and is set to compete with the Renaultsport Mégane when it hits showrooms in 2012.

The Paris show car is resplendent in an ostentatious Tangerine Scream orange paintjob. It sits on huge 19-inch wheels, wears a roof-mounted spoiler and has matching orange brake callipers.

The gaping grille is different to the standard Focus’, sucking in cold air to feed a 2.0-litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine. Even though it has more power than the current Focus ST, the new engine is smaller to improve CO2 emissions and fuel economy.

Ford hasn’t given us any other numbers as yet – the company is saving that for the September 30 debut – but you can guarantee the car will be quicker as well as being more efficient.

The tangerine screamer will sit alongside the updated Mondeo and the all-new Focus C-Max on Ford’s Paris show stand. It will also be joined by the estate version of the Focus, due on sale in the UK along with the five-door hatch by April 2011.
